How to Receive A Massage

Having done massage therapy full time for the past 17 years I have
discovered that most people find it difficult to relax completely. Here are some very simple to follow suggestions to get the most out of your  massage experience.

Please do not drink a strong caffeinated or alcoholic beverage before the massage.
Either of these things could interfere with your ability to enjoy the full benefits of the massage.

Your only job during a massage is to relax as completely as possible. For those that find this hard to do, here are a few hints: You will be covered by a towel or sheet so underpants may be worn depending on your comfort level. Breath deeply, allowing the body to become very heavy and rest your full weight on the table. As I find areas of tension consciously try to let go and relax those areas.
Please do not try to "help".

Talk, for the most part, is distracting and unnecessary. Good massage requires concentration on the part of the therapist.
Great massage is a result of meditation
between therapist
and client. So don't feel obligated to "make conversation".

Please feel free to give feedback if something is uncomfortable. Please do let me know if you are experiencing pain in a specific area. If you are too hot or cold, or want more or less pressure in a  area.

Try to let go of your desire to control movement, and allow me to move your limbs into whatever position is required. Try  to be a rag doll, don't try to be helpful. I am a trained professional and know what I am doing. Trust that I am not there to hurt you.

Close you eyes, try to see with your sense of touch, feel your body both inside and out.
Closing your eyes in the massage experience tends to bring one's center of
attention out of the head and into the body. It allows your brain to slow down.

When done correctly it should leave you in a state of deep relaxation and contentment.
Allowing your whole body feeling revitalized without you having to "do"
 anything.

In today's fast paced society it is one of the best gifts you can give
yourself, permission to slow down. If you take good care of yourself then you will have more energy and be more productive for those you love.
I hope you found this helpful and enjoy.
